I'm Piotr — I build cloud systems for a living, and I organize Global Azure Poland on the side, which mostly means I spend a few months a year arguing about room capacity and sponsor logos instead of Bicep templates.
I called this blog "Modern Technocrat" half as a joke and half as an honest description. The old technocrat trusted the model: measure it, dashboard it, let the number decide. I still believe in that — rigor is not optional, and "it felt right" is not an architecture decision. But a decade of running real systems has taught me that the model is always missing something, and the missing part is usually a person: the engineer who caught the edge case the spec didn't cover, the customer who didn't behave like the research said they would, the call that was right for reasons nobody wrote down.
This blog sits in that gap. Some posts will be straightforwardly technical — cloud architecture, the tradeoffs behind a tool choice, notes from running a community event at scale. Others will be about the parts of the job that don't fit in a ticket: judgment, timing, the read of a room. I'm not trying to balance the two for the sake of balance. I just don't think you can write honestly about one without the other.
